Fire Door Inspection in Central Florida

Annual NFPA 80 inspection and testing of swinging fire door assemblies for healthcare facilities, schools, condos, and commercial buildings from Lakeland to Tampa Bay and Orlando.

Why it matters

What every inspection checks

NFPA 80 requires fire door assemblies to be inspected and tested at least once a year, with written records kept for the authority having jurisdiction. In healthcare, those records are reviewed during CMS and accreditation surveys. A missing record is a finding on its own, even if the door works.

  • Door and frame labels present and legible

  • Self-closing device closes the door completely from the full-open position

  • Latching hardware secures the door when closed
  • No auxiliary hardware that interferes with operation
  • No field modifications that void the label
  • Gasketing and edge seals intact where required
  • Signage on the door meets requirements

Questions

Fire Door Inspection: common questions

How long does a fire door inspection take?

It depends on how many doors you have and how easy they are to reach. We give you a schedule with the quote and plan the work around patient care areas and your staff's availability.

What do you need from us to get started?

Your life safety drawings if you have them, any existing door list or prior report, an estimated door count, and a contact who can arrange access to locked areas. If you don't have drawings or a door list, we build the door list during the first inspection.

Do you inspect smoke barrier doors too?

Smoke door assemblies have their own inspection requirements. Tell us which doors are on your smoke barriers and we will include them in the scope and the report.

Do you put labels or holes in our doors for the QR tags?

No. Tags go on the frame or hinge edge, never on or near the fire rating label, and never drilled into the door.
